Roofing and siding contractor in Franklin, Indiana
The Johnson County seat, platted in 1823. We work on both of Franklin's housing stocks: the Italianate and Queen Anne homes near the courthouse, and the neighborhoods built out around them in the last thirty years.
Two Franklins under one roofline
About 26,000 people live here now. The numbers say the typical house is fairly young, but the old core is what gives the city its look.
Martin Place
A residential historic district listed on the National Register in 1987: 27 contributing homes in Italianate, Queen Anne, American Foursquare and Craftsman styles, built between about 1850 and 1935. Steep gables, porches and tall trim make these slow, careful roofs.
National Register of Historic Places listingAround the courthouse
The Franklin Commercial Historic District, listed in 1989, covers 32 buildings around the Johnson County Courthouse, including the 1924 Artcraft Theatre that Franklin Heritage restored and still runs.

Franklin Heritage, a nonprofit founded in 1983, has spent four decades making the case for the city's brick streets, tree-lined boulevards and historic architecture. Owners of those houses tend to care how a reroof or a new run of siding looks from the sidewalk, and so do we.
A National Register listing by itself does not put restrictions on what a private owner does to the outside of the house. Even so, on a Martin Place Queen Anne we match the trim profiles and keep the details that make it that house, rather than boxing everything in with the flattest option.
Franklin's Department of Planning and Economic Development schedules building inspections, with at least one business day of notice. We check permit requirements with the city for each job.
After 2008
The June 2008 floods destroyed or damaged more than 100 houses in Franklin. If your house took water that year, it is worth having the siding, sheathing and gutters looked at with that history in mind.

Franklin questions
A National Register listing does not by itself restrict private exterior work. Permit rules still apply like anywhere else in the city, and we confirm those with Franklin before the job.
That is the goal on every older home. We look at the corner boards, window casings and frieze before we price the job, and plan the new siding and trim around them.
Yes. A few missing shingles or a leaking gutter corner gets the same free look as a full reroof.
