Roofing and siding contractor in Greenwood, Indiana
Greenwood is a good share of our work. Roofs, siding, gutters and decks, from the streets around the Old Town historic district to the subdivisions built since 2000.
What we see on Greenwood houses
Greenwood grew from about 7,000 people in 1960 to more than 63,000 in 2020, and its houses show it. Two ZIP codes, two different generations of homes, and two different sets of problems.
46142: the older half
The median house in 46142 was built in 1982. Those homes are on their second roof at least, and the original siding and aluminum gutters are at the end of their run. This is where we replace fascia, re-side, and chase leaks around old chimney flashing.
Census ACS 2020 to 2024, table B2503546143: built after 2000
In 46143 the median build year is 2000. Builder-grade 3-tab and early architectural shingles from that era are reaching the 20 to 30 year range where inspectors expect them to wear out, and many are coming due at once.
Census ACS; InterNACHI life expectancy chartHail in June 2023
On June 25, 2023, the National Weather Service logged hail estimated at 1.25 inches three miles east of Greenwood, and 1.5 inches near New Whiteland the same afternoon. Another 1-inch hail report came in west of the city on February 19, 2026.
NWS Indianapolis event summariesGreenwood's permit rules, in plain words
In Greenwood, new shingles with patches of bad decking need no permit. A permit comes in when 25% or more of the decking is being removed. Siding needs a permit only if the structure of the house is being changed. Same-size window replacements are exempt, but a bigger or smaller opening is not.
Decks are the one to watch. Greenwood wants a permit for any deck, pergola or gazebo larger than three feet by three feet, attached to the house or not.
If you are in a subdivision
Before the city issues a permit for exterior work inside a subdivision, the applicant has to sign that the neighborhood's architectural control committee was notified. If your HOA also approves shingle or siding colors, get that approval before we order material. We can give you the product names and color samples to submit.

Greenwood questions
Only if 25% or more of the roof decking is coming off. A shingle replacement with some patched decking does not need one. We check the decking during the estimate so you know which case you are in.
Only if the approval comes late. Send your HOA the shingle or siding color we pick together at the estimate, and we schedule the work once they sign off. The city also requires written confirmation that the committee was notified before it issues a permit.
Yes. Old Town, around Main Street and Madison Avenue, is the oldest part of the city, and the houses near it tend to need the careful jobs: rotted fascia, old flashing, and siding that has to meet original trim.
No. Greenwood estimates are free, like everywhere else we work.
